Job Summary/Basic Function

The Health Care Informatics Program at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a one-year coordinator-track faculty position at the rank of instructor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop graduate course materials for classes such as Informatics Applications, Introduction to Clinical Healthcare Environment, and Project Management in Health Care Systems.
  • Teach 10-12 credit hours of graduate health care informatics courses per semester.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Engage with local industry through outreach events, career fairs, and professional meetings.
  • Play a key role in continuous improvement planning for the program.

Required Education

A terminal degree in engineering, business, or informatics in a health care related area or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. ABD will be considered if close to completion. In lieu of a terminal degree, a master's degree in engineering, business, or informatics in a health care related area, or a closely related field with two (2) years of industrial or teaching experience will be considered.

Other Desirables

Applicants with health care informatics industry experience and two (2) years of teaching experience in health care informatics related courses will receive special consideration.
