Job Summary/Basic Function

The School of Concrete and Construction Management at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, postdoctoral research fellow. This is a one-year temporary appointment with the possible renewal of an additional year. The start date for the position is as early as July 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Publication record and research experience.
  • Experience in concrete and cementitious materials, highway pavements, and related construction practices as demonstrated through publications.
  • Familiarity with the state-of-the-art pavement design tool (Pavement ME Design software).
  • Deep understanding of concrete mix design and mechanistic behavior of concrete pavements.
  • Understanding of the local calibration process of Pavement ME Design software.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting with concrete and cementitious materials.
  • Mechanistic modeling of concrete pavements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivation to pursue research excellence.
  • Ability to collaborate as well as to work independently.

Required Education

A terminal degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with strong statistical, computational, and analytical skills will receive special consideration.
