Job Summary/Basic Function

The Jennings A. Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for the position of Associate Dean for Administration. Must qualify for appointment at the rank of professor. Expedited tenure will be considered at the time of appointment. The start date for the position is July 1, 2022.

The Associate Dean for Administration assists the Dean with managing the day-to-day operations of the Jennings A. Jones College of Business. This position provides planning and management support for programs and initiatives. The Associate Dean for Administration reports directly to the Dean and serves as the proxy for the Dean in his/her absence. General job expectations include: providing direction and decision-making regarding administrative structure and processes, as well as academic affairs, within the college. Specific job expectations include management of the college's physical plant; submission of required annual AACSB reports; maintenance of faculty sufficiency and qualification tables; coordinating 5-year AACSB accreditation reviews; supervising the five college department chairs and the college technology staff; proactively communicating with the Dean about all significant issues arising in the college; serving on the college's Executive Committee and the Dean's Cabinet; and execution of the college's strategic initiatives, as determined by the Dean.

The successful candidate is expected to have effective oral and written communication skills, including graphic presentation skills; effective skills in survey design, data analysis, planning/execution; and effective curriculum design and implementation. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have the ability to build and maintain effective working relations with diverse constituencies.

Required Education

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in a business-related discipline found in the Jennings A. Jones College of Business.

Required Related Experience

Five years of collegiate teaching experience and at least three years of collegiate administrative experience as a department chair, assistant, or associate dean.

Applicants with knowledge of AACSB International accreditation standards; TN Transfer Pathway articulation agreements; THEC/MTSU policies and procedures; Jennings A. Jones College of Business policies and procedures, including Faculty By-Laws; Microsoft Office suite software programs; Administrative systems including Banner, Argos, MT$ource, PageUp, Qualtrics, Curriculog, Degree Works, and Digital Measures (Faculty Success); and AACSB “My Accreditation” portal will receive special consideration.

Also, those with effective oral and written communication skills, including graphic presentation skills; effective skills in survey design, data analysis, planning/execution; and effective curriculum design and implementation as well as those with the ability to build and maintain effective working relations with diverse constituencies will receive special consideration.
