Job Summary/Basic Function
The UAS Operations Lab Coordinator is responsible for maintaining UAS program aircraft and sensors, program support equipment and vehicles, supervising the Assistant UAS Operations Lab Coordinator and UAS program student workers, serving as a MTSU UAS liaison to internal and external agencies/customers, and assisting UAS faculty members with the conduct of UAS lab operations.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in related field required. FAA Remote Pilot Certificate required.
Required Related Experience
A total of two (2) years of civilian UAS experience which included flight operations, maintenance, data collection, and interpretation. Or, one (1) year of military/civilian unmanned aircraft which included flight operations, maintenance, data collection, interpretation, and hold a FAA Private Pilot Certificate or military equivalent flight experience.
Desirable Related Experience
Special consideration will be given to applicants with the following qualifications: A total of five (5) years of civilian UAS experience which included flight operations, maintenance, data collection, and interpretation. Master's Degree in a related field. FAA Private Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating. Prior research utilizing unmanned aircraft. Prior university teaching experience.
Desirable License/Registration/Certification
FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate. FAA Private Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating.
