Job Summary/Basic Function
Serve as the librarian for the Center for Popular Music research collection containing over one million items, including 13,000 reference books. Primary responsibilities include original and copy cataloging of materials in all formats (reading room books, sound recordings, sheet music, etc.) according to either library or archival national standards; scheduling and providing instruction and tours for MTSU classes and other visiting groups; plan, schedule, and execute student programming and outreach efforts for the Center; providing reference services to patrons; collaborate in maintaining and promoting the Center through social media; maintain CPM website; collection development for the CPM reference book collection; perform physical processing and repair of Reading Room materials per protocol; supervise Assistant Librarian position; serve as liaison with James E. Walker Library; and perform other related tasks as assigned.
American Library Association accredited master's degree required.
Required Related Experience
Two years full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in a library, archive, or similar setting.
Desirable Related Experience
Three years full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in a library, archive, or similar setting. Training/experience working with music related materials preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
