Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Human Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#207020) at the rank of Lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2023. The position is contingent upon funding.

The successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of lecture and studio courses, such as corporate design, business practices, residential and commercial construction, sustainable design, universal design, design principles and theory, and codes. In addition, the successful candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Photoshop and have a working knowledge of the current interior design profession. Additionally, they should have experience with CIDA accreditation, standards, and processes and work closely with other faculty to maintain high program standards and CIDA accreditation.

Required Education

A master’s degree in Interior Design or a closely related area from an accredited college or university is required.

Required License/Registration/Certification

NCIDQ certification is required.

Other Desirables

Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in professional interior design and teaching at the university level, including online teaching. Also, applicants with the following certifications will receive special consideration:
• Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
• International Well Building Institute (WELL)
• Evidenced Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC)
