Job Summary/Basic Function
Serve as the Electronic Shop Supervisor and provide assistance to the Media Engineer, Director of Engineering and Audio/Visual Services staff. Maintain and repair audio, video, broadcast and production equipment to include the following: broadcast/professional and prosumer/consumer cameras, camcorders, tape and solid state media recorders, audio and video equipment, photographic equipment and projection system setup with various computer display technologies. Setup and maintain video production studio including lighting fixtures, green screen and scenic set construction. Setup and arrange tables, chairs, staging and broadcast equipment in LRC broadcast classrooms and setup broadcast equipment in various locations and venues on campus to support special video production projects and broadcasts. Setup media equipment in campus conference spaces to support faculty/staff events per request. Oversee the daily operation of Equipment Section Technical Shop and check out equipment to faculty and staff. Prepare daily assignments for Electronic Equipment Technician and student workers to include equipment inventory, setup and repair. Responsible for Electronic Shop inventory including all circulating equipment available for check out as well as all non-circulating equipment, tools and parts. Make recommendations to the Media Engineer and Director of Engineering for any new equipment or parts purchases. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.
High school diploma or high school equivalency required. A bachelor's degree and one year experience may be considered in lieu of the high school and five years' experience.
Required Related Experience
Five years of progressively responsible electrical/electronic repair experience or directly related experience in an audio, video, broadcast or audiovisual field required. Customer Service Skills a must.
Desirable Related Experience
Ten years of progressively responsible experience in audiovisual shop administration, conference center technologies, broadcast engineering or related field preferred. Experience with Metal, wood, and plastics fabrications. Cable termination of cat-5, BNC, Analog audio, digital audio, intercom Communications connectors. Familiarity of Inventory Management Systems and software. Management of Check-out Equipment using a proprietary Check-out software. Mechanical repair of small transport vehicles. Knowledge of operations of Single man lift. Cable management skill set. Shop Safety protocols and proficient operations with Electrical/Electronics and shop tools such as: Arc Welders, Drill Press, Soldiering stations, torque drivers, Circular saw, Table saw, reciprocating saw, wood router, sanders, and common hand tools.
CEA, CTS, EE, CAT, CALT, or Related Certification in Audio Visual related field.
