Job Summary/Basic Function
The Advisor Education Abroad (EA) is responsible for providing guidance to students on the availability, value, and academic appropriateness of the various approved MTSU education abroad programs. The Advisor EA will advise students in one on one and group informational sessions; organize promotional strategies; address groups of students, parents, and faculty; respond to inquiries; prepare pre departure orientation sessions; and create and update information on Education Abroad programs within terra dotta. The Advisor EA will assist the Director with education abroad budgeting and recruitment. The Advisor EA will work with any MTSU student interested in adding an education abroad program into their academic degree and assist the traditional advisors by providing educational guidance and assistance for students through planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate educational solutions. The Advisor EA must be student centered, a clear communicator, a team player, an advocate for International Education, and capable of working effectively with staff and faculty to serve the needs of our students. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate student records using internal student tracking software to support the retention strategies and evaluate student progress and satisfaction. They will perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned. Note: a flexible work schedule is required to accommodate student requests for advising after traditional work hours. Some domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Bachelor's degree. Master's preferred.
Required Related Experience
Two years experience advising students. Prior experience living or studying abroad.
Desirable Related Experience
Prior experience in international education. Prior experience using terra dotta software. Facility in a language other than English.
