Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#136030) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2022. The position is contingent upon funding.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the Bachelor of Integrated Studies (BSIS), Bachelor of Professional Studies, and Master of Professional Studies programs. In addition to teaching face-to-face, online and hybrid classes, responsibilities include working with program directors to assess degree student learning outcomes, serving as a mentor to temporary or adjunct faculty, conducting peer reviews of teaching, and coordinating or assisting with special/programs/events for majors. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with students of varying abilities and be available to teach night classes as needed.
A terminal degree with at least 18 hours in management/leadership, instructional technology, organizational communication, English, education, business, or an interdisciplinary field from an accredited college or university is required by the appointment date. ABD will be considered if close to completion. A doctoral degree must be earned no later than August 1, 2023, for renewal of the contract.
Those with prior experience teaching online, upper-division, and graduate courses as well as those with experience working with non-traditional student populations and interdisciplinary studies programs will receive special consideration.
