Job Description

Provide mental health assessments and crisis interventions within MTSU Counseling Services’ mission/scope of services. Provide brief interventions/brief counseling or appropriate referrals followed by brief case management services to ensure continuity of care for students with mental health needs. Communicate with in-house professional staff/psychiatrists, insurance providers and/or local care providers as necessary to effect referrals. Coordinate counseling and skill building groups for students. As requested, provide psycho-educational outreach presentations to classes, student groups, and faculty / administrative groups. Assist to monitor interns and unlicensed clinicians; serve as a consultant to faculty, departments and administration as appropriate, and perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned.

Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study

Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work and currently licensed by the State of Tennessee as an LPC MHSP, LCSW, LSPE HSP, or PhD/PsyD HSP.

Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

One year of paid experience post licensure as an LPC MHSP, LCSW, LSPEHSP, or PhD/PsyD HSP, providing direct mental health services in a mental health related agency, hospital, university counseling center, or private practice setting required.

Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

Three years of paid experience post licensure as an LPC MHSP, LCSW, LSPEHSP, or PhD/PsyD HSP, providing direct mental health services to students in a university/college counseling center strongly preferred.

Certificates/ Licenses Preferred
Salary Range $39,025 - $48,585; commensurate with experience
