Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2023. The position is contingent upon funding.
The B.A./B.S. in Religious Studies at MTSU is a new and growing program seeking applicants who are teacher-scholars with pedagogical competency in theory and method in Religious Studies. The successful candidate will have excellence in undergraduate teaching, the ability to engage in substantial curricular development and administrative program support for both religious studies and Middle Eastern studies, and the promise of scholarly contributions to the field of religion.
Required Education
Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a closely related field by the appointment date
Other Desirables
Special consideration will be given to applicants whose areas of specialization are in the historical roots of Islam and its phenomenological development in the context of pre-Islamic, Old Iranian, and Middle Eastern religions.
