Job Summary/Basic Function
MTSU invites applicants for the Co-Medical Director positions in its Athletic Training Program. These are 10-month, part-time (0.025 FTE) clinical-track faculty positions with a start date of August 1, 2023.
The successful candidates will have medical expertise to contribute to MTSU's new Master of Science in Athletic Training. To do this, the Co-Medical Directors will use their professional expertise to expose students to their discipline's services and direct their educational experiences in their clinical/professional practice. The Co-Medical Directors will be actively involved in the Athletic Training Program and support the Athletic Training Program Director in ensuring both didactic instruction and supplemental clinical experiences to meet current practice standards related to the athletic trainer's role in providing client/patient care. The Co-Medical Directors will participate in the continuous review of the program, plan and develop activities, and assist with the accreditation process for Athletic Training. The Co-Medical Directors will have a positive relationship with community clinicians and healthcare executives to advance quality clinical rotations and assist in securing clinical sites and preceptors from various specialty areas. The Co-Medical Directors will use their areas of expertise to actively engage students in classroom teaching and clinical sessions at least once a month.
Required Education
Terminal degree from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school and residency program
Required Related Experience
Five (5) years of experience in clinical practice, hospital, or military setting as a physician
Required License/Registration/Certification
Currently licensed as an allopathic or osteopathic physician
Other Desirables
Applicants with experience teaching or supervising athletic trainers in athletic training programs will receive special consideration.
