Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow position (# K23010). This is a temporary one-year appointment with a possible annual renewal for an additional year, depending on the selected candidate’s continued interest, performance, and funding. The start date for the position is October 1, 2023.
We seek a qualified scholar with experience in theory and computation in the field of quantum information science, including quantum optics. The postdoctoral scholar will join a research project focused on numerical study and method development in quantum control of different quantum emitter systems. The project is funded by a National Science Foundation grant, NSF ExpandQISE (index # 222040, PI: Dr. Hanna Terletska). The project focuses on providing theoretical modeling and analysis that will enable efficient control of the spectral properties of different quantum emitters using external field protocols.
Required Education
A terminal degree in physics, quantum information systems, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Those with experience in theoretical and quantum information theory, open quantum systems, quantum optics, quantum estimations, or many-body quantum physics will receive special consideration.
