Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost of International Affairs the Strategic Communications Manager and Events Planner will make decisions that impact the future direction of the division, its directorates and centers, and other affiliated units. Examples of decisions to be made independently include social media implementation; long-range planning; creative and production timelines; message development; collaboration with external stakeholders, internal leadership, and team members; and serving as the division marketing liaison with University Marketing. The position represents the International Affairs and, by extension, its constituent units, and will travel to represent the division at public events for recruitment, strategic communication, and development activities. This person will be a key member of the International Affairs team and promote a consistent, professional, and integrated brand for the division.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree required. Masters degree preferred.
Required Related Experience
Four (4) years progressively responsible experience in higher education, non-profit, or government (or a combination of those experiences). Experience to include: website content management or development; demonstrated written and oral communications skills to reach target audiences and key stakeholders, working closely with academic departments, facilitating large-scale academic events for the community or campus audiences, and maintenance of data and report generation on communication effectiveness.
