Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Vice Provost International Affairs (VPIA) serve as Director of the Education Abroad (EA) Office. Oversee and assist students with study abroad and exchange programs, provide and direct recruitment strategies for increased participation. Direct the daily operations of the office to include: manage budget, work with faculty interested in MTSU signature programs and assist those faculty in program budgets and logistics, program promotions and implementation. Work with Deans and chairs to align EA offerings with academic degree programs and maps; coordinate with academic advisors to promote and advise interested students in MTSU approved programs. Advise students interested in EA; work with academic advisors, Financial Aid, the Registrar and Bursar to ensure that MTSU EA students are covered by their respective areas and services when abroad and when they return. Continually monitor and report to VPIA safety of MTSU students abroad through US state department website, world news reports and social media. Supervise EA Advisor, Coordinator and work study student(s); chair the Education Abroad advisory committee and perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. In state and international travel to partner universities required.
Required Education
Masters degree required. Valid passport required.
Required Related Experience
Three (3) years related, progressively responsible experience with education abroad, exchange programs required that include one year of the total three years in a supervisory/administrative capacity.
Desirable Related Experience
Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in college administration and international study preferred. Strong budget and management experience preferred.
