Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Health and Human Performance (Leisure and Sport Management) at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#118040) at the rank of assistant professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2023. The position is contingent upon funding. Duties include instruction, mentorship, advising, marketing/promotion, and program-level service in the undergraduate major in Leisure and Sport Management, the master's program in Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Management, and the doctorate in Human Performance, concentration in Leisure Studies. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the following: relevant teaching and mentorship experience in undergraduate and graduate recreation, sport, parks, and leisure services management curricula; a commitment to excellence in teaching; an ability to develop effective rapport with students and colleagues; experience with the design and delivery of both online and face-to-face coursework and curricula; and evidence of a focused, productive, and potentially fundable research program.
A terminal degree in recreation, sport, parks, or leisure services management or closely related field by appointment date
Those with curricular expertise in two or more of the following: sport management, outdoor recreation management, community recreation management, youth development, and the study of leisure behavior will receive special consideration. Also, those with two years of managerial experience in the recreation, sport, parks, or leisure services industry; a track record of extramural funding in support of a focused research agenda; service to professional organizations via committee service; or service to scholarly publications in the field will receive special consideration.
