Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, the Manager of Intercultural and Diversity Affairs (IDA) is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of multicultural programming that provides support to the campus community including international and domestic students who represent various cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. Essential tasks include: advise, counsel, and mentor multicultural students with academic, career, and personal issues: referring students to proper campus offices as appropriate. Serve as an advocate for multicultural student organizations and create programming to directly influence retention and graduation success.
Required Education
Master's degree required. Note: A bachelor's degree and six (6) years directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
Required Related Experience
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in student affairs/development or a directly related area required. Demonstrated experience working with and sensitivity to students with diverse cultural backgrounds including race and ethnicity required.
Desirable Related Experience
Substantial experience creating and implementing multicultural student programs and workshops; assisting campus organizations plan programs that address social issues within the university community and developing activities to enhance all students' knowledge of ethnic and international cultures and celebrations preferred.
