Job Summary/Basic Function
The Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) is seeking a program director to work with the Director of the PERI, and other affiliated faculty and graduate students, to assist with the administration, programming, and communications of the PERI. Established in late 2016, the Political Economy Research Institute is a joint venture between the Jennings A. Jones College of Business (www.mtsu.edu/business) and the University Honors College (www.mtsu.edu/honors). The mission of the institute is to engage undergraduate and graduate students with faculty in research that will further the understanding of business and economic principles, as well as their impact on regional, national, and international financial conditions and the well-being of society.
Responsibilities of the Program Director may include planning and executing internal and external educational and research programs (conferences, guest speakers, and workshops), creating promotional graphics and material for PERI events and research, helping affiliated faculty, staff, and students publish op-eds and other products, establishing and maintaining media relations to obtain interviews for PERI faculty and staff on television, radio, and other communication formats, developing and administering the PERI's presence in online and social media, developing relationships with external organizations, assisting the Director with development communications (annual reports, newsletters, and fundraising material), and working with the MTSU's Public Relations, Creative Services, Web Marketing, and other relevant teams to advertise PERI products and activities.
Bachelor's Degree required in economics, political science, communications, graphic design, public relations, or other related field.
Required Related Experience
Four years of programming, communications, graphic design, public relations, or marketing experience.
Desirable Related Experience
* Six years of programming, communications, graphic design, public relations, or marketing experience (a mixture of these experiences is strongly preferred)
* Experience in higher education is strongly preferred
* Graphic design education and experience is strongly preferred
