Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Psychology (School Psychology) at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#120060) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2022. The position is contingent upon funding.

Primary teaching responsibilities are in the School Psychology NASP accredited (since 1989) Educational Specialist program that prepares students for licensure as a school psychologist. The position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching, practicum supervision, thesis supervision, and involvement in state and national school psychology organizations. Possible graduate courses may include intellectual and behavioral assessment, legal, ethical, and professional issues, consultation, and collaboration. Possible undergraduate courses may include general psychology, developmental, and introduction to psychological testing. Opportunities for the development of leadership roles exist.

Required Education

A PhD in Psychology or Educational Psychology, or a closely related field by appointment date. All terminal degrees must have a concentration/specialization in School Psychology.

Other Desirables

Candidates who have the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) designation will receive special consideration.

In order to successfully apply, applicants are required to include the following documents as separate attachments at the time of online application submittal: a cover letter, their curriculum vitae, a statement of Teaching Philosophy, and their Research Statement or Creative Activities (as appropriate to the discipline).

Applicants are also required to provide teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., peer teaching reviews, in-service training evaluations) at the time of the online application submitted as Other Document 1.  Additionally, a Diversity Statement must also be submitted at the time of online application as Other Document 2. Given the diverse student population served in our department, the diversity statement should address the extent to which applicants can create welcoming and inclusive environments in their classrooms, include diversity topics in their course curriculum, address issues of diversity and inclusion in their research, and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
