Job Summary/Basic Function
Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Health and Human Performance (Tourism and Hospitality Management) invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2022. The position is contingent upon funding.
Duties include research, service, instruction, mentorship, and advising in the undergraduate major of Tourism and Hospitality Management as well as the master's degree in Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Management, and the doctoral degree in Human Performance, Leisure Studies Concentration. Candidates must demonstrate a robust research agenda that supports the Tourism and Hospitality field through publication history, current works in progress, and a clear future research agenda. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the following: relevant teaching and mentorship experience in undergraduate tourism, hospitality, and event management curricula; a commitment to excellence in teaching; an ability to develop effective rapport with students and colleagues; commitment to public and university service; and a commitment to research.
Candidates are expected to possess expertise in two or more of the following: tourism studies, hospitality management, and/or event management.
A terminal degree in tourism studies, hospitality management/administration, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Candidates who possess a minimum of two years of managerial experience in the tourism and hospitality industry will receive special consideration.
