Job Summary/Basic Function
Serve as a member of the Student Unions Leadership Team. Assist the Student Union Facilities Director and Assistant Director with daily and long term building operations and event coordination for all student unions facilities that include the MTSU Student Union, the Keathley University Center (KUC), and the James Union Building (JUB). Primary responsibility to schedule and manage the daily operations for events held in the James Union Building. Perform essential tasks that include check facilities for cleanliness; place work orders; assist with safety and security by conducting building and room checks; and ensure student union buildings are opened and closed on time. Coordinate reservations for all facilities and serve as liaison for assigned events between internal and external clients and MTSU constituents that include catering, custodial, public safety, parking services, etc. Assist with event set ups and take downs and perform other related duties and projects as assigned. A flexible work schedule is required to assist with the management of events, student workers and facilities that will include early morning, night, weekend, and holiday work hours.
Bachelor's Degree in Student Affairs, Hospitality, Event Planning, Sport, Leisure, Recreational Studies, or other related field required.
Required Related Experience
Two (2) years progressively responsible experience in event coordination/customer service, facilities management or related vocation required.
Desirable Related Experience
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in event coordination and management in a university setting preferred. Prior experience working with college students or university programs and/or setting preferred.
