Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of English at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) dual-enrollment faculty position at the rank of Lecturer. This is a one year temporary position with possible annual renewal for up to three years total. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021. Position contingent upon funding.

Successful candidates will teach dual enrollment first-year composition courses on site in area high schools.

Required Education

Candidate must meet at least one of the following three degree requirements:
1. Master of Arts in any of the following disciplines: English, Linguistics, Rhetoric/Composition, Professional/Technical Writing
2. Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
3. Master of Arts in a closely related field with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in classes with English, Linguistics, and/or Technical Writing

Other Desirables

Applicants will possess any or all of the following experience and qualifications will receive special consideration: a PhD in English, Linguistics, Rhetoric/Composition, or Professional/Technical Writing; at least 3 hours of graduate-level coursework that focuses on writing pedagogy; at least one semester of experience teaching English at a university or college; at least one semester of experience teaching dual-enrollment English classes.
